The original International Safety Seminar, hosted by the FAA and SENEAM was known as “Operación Amistad“. It focused on briefing and orientation of Mexican pilots on the subjects of Air Traffic Control procedures as well as familiarization of the General Operating and Flight Rules in the United States of America.

Through the years, as these safety seminars grew in scope and attendance, the responsibility was eventually transferred to the FAA’s Flight Standards Division and its original name was changed to “Amigos de la Aviacion“. As these seminars became more popular, Air Taxi Operators requested to be included, involving more time in its planning, organization, programming, and execution, becoming even larger and more popular events. The current organizers of this Seminar are the Direccion General de Aeronautica Civil (DGAC) Mexico and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Civil Aeronautical Authorities, Customs, Health and Immigration and other aviation entities of Mexico and the USA have participated in exhibitions and presentations of subjects related to airport safety, security, operations, ground services, and other areas of interest to General Aviation.
